Kelly Ferguson, Eagle Street Pier Centre Manager said, “I hope the people of Brisbane take this opportunity to book a table at their favourite restaurant to celebrate this much-loved icon.
“The Mumm Champagne Toasting Bar is a fantastic opportunity to raise a glass to “the Pier” and re-live so many wonderful memories.
“This cherished piece of history has served Brisbane well and now we look forward to the site’s transformation into a world-class premium dining and entertainment precinct to be known as Waterfront Brisbane,” said Kelly Ferguson.
Eagle Street Pier has a colourful history spanning 150 years. In the 1880s it served as Brisbane’s main wharf for a developing city and played a very important role in Brisbane’s maritime history, continuing to service Brisbane right up until 1960. The area underwent a renaissance when Eagle Street Pier was built in 1989 to become the much-loved destination that we know today.
Now, all of Brisbane are invited to Eagle Street Pier to reserve a booking at their favourite cafe, bar and restaurant, and enjoy roving entertainment alongside spectacular fireworks and a glass of champagne, to say farewell to “the Pier” from 9 June:
